Lightweight construction in full swing: New capacities for LWRT in Chodová Planá

At POLYTEC's Czech plant in Chodová Planá, the expansion of production capacity is entering the next round - and at full speed. Since 2023, the POLYTEC GROUP has relied on the innovative LWRT (Lightweight Reinforced Thermoplastics) technology at this location. Now a major order has been received that will significantly increase capacities once again. The expansion not only brings state-of-the-art technology to the plant, but also a considerable increase in output.

Speed and technology in harmony

The new order requires production to run at full speed: 9,000 components per working day - that is the target. In order to keep up this pace, POLYTEC is investing in a second, ultra-modern LWRT line. By the end of 2025, a production plant will be created that will set new standards in terms of efficiency. The centrepiece of the expansion is a powerful 800-tonne press. A new contact oven heats the materials to the optimum processing temperature, while a fully automated assembly system ensures maximum efficiency in the compression moulding process.

Why LWRT?

Light, stable and high-performance - these are the strengths of LWRT. The multi-layer sandwich material offers excellent acoustic and thermal properties as well as high mechanical strength and dimensional stability. This makes it suitable for many applications in lightweight construction. With its comprehensive material and production expertise, POLYTEC selects the optimum material for every specific requirement.

Forward-looking investment

With the expansion in Chodová Planá, POLYTEC is taking another major step towards sustainable mobility. The combination of innovative technology, short production cycles and the sustainable use of materials makes the location a showcase plant for modern lightweight construction.

LWRT unfolds its strengths particularly impressively in the vehicle underbody: it is as light as a feather, but at the same time as tough as a protective shield.
